xNepali girl Manju, who was rescued from under the rumble, thanked the Almighty for saving her. “I was lucky,” she said adding that moments after she was woken up from sleep by the violent jolt, she felt a large chunk of wall collapsing on her head and waist. The 20-year-old is now undergoing treatment at the RIMS Hospital here. A resident of Nepali-dominated Char Hajare village in Senapati district, Manju said she saw houses of neighbours also collapsing.
Three of a family, who also managed to escape from the rubble of a collapsed building at Deulaland in Imjhal city, demanded the government provide immediate relief.

“We have nowhere to go now. The government should provide us with shelter,” said R K Wangsana, one of the survivors.The worst quake to shake Manipur in the past 65 years, left a trail of destruction and wailing family members grieving the death of near and dear ones

. Some prayed for the departed souls. “I was deep in slumber when I was jolted out of bed. Power lines snapped and I jumped out of the first floor to the ground floor in fear and in the process hurt myself though not severely,” said M Romesh, an Imphal East resident.
