The Erotics India study conducted back in 2011 found that Indian women are consumers of p*rnography. Narratives imply that the desire to watch p#rnography is both pleasurable and “natural”, an idea that emerges from an acceptance that s*xual urges are also natural.For Indian women, p#rnography also acts as a form of s*x education. Women do not prefer discuss their consumption of p#rn in order to avoid being labelled “loose” or over-s*xualised. The study also states that Women in India find Savita Bhabhi offending.
P#rnography is not yet an openly spoken topic in India and most women would deny having watched it, unless its anonymous. That's one reason why the data that is available under this is more qualitative than quantitative. P#rn for Indian women would mean finding herself tangled in the terms MMS, and P#rn. These terms are not clear yet. But Indian women watch p*rn. The s#x education in India is quite backward. Watching p*rn for women in India is battling between pleasure and education vs feelings of guilt and shame.
Hopefully this would change for the good and women in India would be more open about topics like s#xuality, p#rnography in the years to come.
